Pastor John, Sherri, Jessica, Jonathan, and Jacob

Thank you so much for stopping by our web site today. My name is John Roberson and I am the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Clinton, IL. I would like to introduce my family to you. My wife of 17 years is Sherri, my daughter Jessica is 16, my oldest son, Jonathan is 14, and the newest member of our family, Jacob is 1 year old. We are excited about how the Lord is using our family here in Clinton, Il.

I was raised in a good Christian home in the Mississippi Delta and went to church all of my life, but it was not until I was 25 that I trusted Christ as my Savior. As a matter of a fact, July 22, 1997, in the First Bible Baptist Church of Drew MS. I remember it like it was yesterday and I have never been the same. I surrendered to the call to preach on September 3, 1997, and God has allowed me to preach His Word since.

My wife Sherri, trusted Christ as her Savior, shortly after I got saved. We have had the privilege to see 2 of our 3 children saved. We know that it is only a matter of time before Jacob comes to know Christ as his Savior. Sherri, is truly a gift from God. She is such a great help to me as we serve God here in Clinton. She actively helps me in many different areas of the church, such as Nursery Director, Ladies Missionary Meeting (vice president), she is also in charge of our Mother / Daughter banquet. I have to say that I could not make it without her help and support.

Jessica and Jonathan both are actively involved in several ministries of the church. They both are bus captains and are active soul-winners. Jacob keeps momma busy around the house learning all of the new things that a 15 month old learns.

I came to Clinton, IL in May of 2003 as the Assistant Pastor of First Baptist Church. My family and I have been actively serving the Lord since we arrived. What a great God we serve to allow us the great opportunity to do His work. We were able to help Pastor Roger Cox in many of the ministries that are still going today. We have seen a number of souls saved and lives changed, and to God be the glory.

In August of 2005, the Church voted me as the new Senior Pastor, the 41st Pastor of First Baptist Church. We continue to see souls saved and amazing things accomplished for God.
